Dearest Frank, Christina, Marianna and Daniel Anderson Simba, this is Ndjacho (Son of Kpadyu, formerly with Compassion Zaire). I hope you all remember me. I was on the internet searching for Frank’s whereabouts and suddenly learned about Jeanne’s passing. Very sad to know about this so late. She was a very wonderful person. I stayed at your house in Nairobi for a year or so, still have photos of Christina, Marriana and Daniel as a baby. Thank you Jeanne for teaching me English Grammar during all those evenings before supper. I owe my proficiency in English to you and Frank. Grateful to God for allowing me to know and live with your entire family. Part of my spiritual foundation was built in your house. I went on to live in India for about 16 years and just recently moved to Montreal, Canada. I hope to see you very soon. I will always treasure those wonderful memories of Jeanne for eternity. Blessings, Ndjacho.

Sad to know this late. Just got to know this when I talked to Frank on LinkedIn. I knew Jeanne, Frank and the kids when we lived and worked together in Nairobi, Kenya. Wonderful person full of love and grace. Will be deeply and dearly missed by many of us who lived with Jeanne and family here in East Africa. RIP. George Gitau, Loise and the kids.

Dear Family,
I wanted to write some more about Jeanne to her family and girls especially. Jeanne and I were best friends before she met Frank. We prayed often together, we sang together and we were both teachers. We had lots in common. Jeanne and I loved to sing the hymns together. Jeanne lived in Oceanside with her parents. She loved her mother very much and was heartbroken when she passed away.
Jeanne was a teacher. She actually taught a bit on Long Island and she loved kids. Children, your Mom was a very caring person, she and I visited a nursing home in Oceanside for a year or so, we prayed for a woman who was bedridden because of a disease that rendered her the size of an infant. We visited that woman together until the day she died. Jeanne was ever faithful to this mission of delivering the gospel to this poor bedridden soul. Her cheerful disposition and love filled the room as we both sang and prayed together.
Of most importance to Jeanne was finding a good husband. I remember her fervency and faith. It was kind of late for both of us to get married as most of our friends were already married. We were around 29 and 30! That was late for us. We were both wondering and praying, but Jeanne, especially, with faith and fervent prayer.
Children, when Jeanne met your dad, Frank, she was totally in love. I remember thinking, “Boy, that was fast!” but Jeanne had so much faith and was sure of Frank. I was so happy for her when they got married. Your mother, children, was a beautiful bride and Frank, a very handsome husband.
Jeanne and Frank took over her mother’s tutoring business for a while in Oceanside. Jeanne’s mother had her doctorate in reading and was very bright and a great teacher. Without Jeanne, I might never have been launched into my own teaching career which has lasted 24 years! You see, I convinced her to allow me to tutor at her company and use the Sing, Spell, Read & Write program. I have used that program ever since and taught hundreds of children to read, write and spell with that program. I had learned about the program from my sister and needed a place to try it out. Jeanne’s tutoring company provided a quick way for me to experience the program. 1:47 into this video I tell about this experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJA2hMg9fdw
Well, once Jeanne had gotten married, her life began to change quickly. It wasn’t long before Jeanne was pregnant with Christina. This was Jeanne’s dream come true. She loved being pregnant and Frank was so happy as well.
Soon they were off to Africa! So many changes for Jeanne! She had never actually left her home in Oceanside, yet with Frank by her side and her faith in the Lord, she was doing so much.
Unfortunately Jeanne and I lost contact and I have always regretted this as she was truly one of my best friends. It’s not easy to make and keep loyal friends, Jeanne was supportive and always willing to pray and believe the best for me and my own circumstances.
Children and Frank, I know Jeanne loves you all very much and still now, prays for you in heaven with the Lord and angels. I’m sure Jeanne is happy now to see her Mom and Dad.
I wanted to tell you all this because Jeanne was very dear to me during a time in my life when I truly needed her friendship. If you ever need anything please feel free to call on me. I know Jeanne left you all with a strong faith in Jesus and this is her legacy, that she has children who will carry on her mission on earth.
All my best,
Love, Chrissy Nowicki Calabrese

I remembered Jeanne from the Valley Stream Church of the Nazarene. Jeanne was always involved in the music ministry and always smiling. We will see her again in the blink of an eye. Your family is in my heart, my thoughts, and my prayers.

Dear Frank,
I just learned today of Jeanne’s passing. Iam very so sorry to read of this great loss. Jeanne was a strong and vibrant Christian, who loved the Lord with all her heart, soul and mind. I’m sure she’s with Him and enjoying His presence. I know Jeanne is singing her favorite hymns with the choirs of angels right now. Here, however, on earth, her voice and presence will be sorely missed as I’m sure you are all grieving her loss. I’m again so sorry and pray that your family is comforted in many ways.
Love, Chrissy Calabrese

Jeanne was a shining light of Christ’s love. I still can see her smiling face as she sang in the Church of the Nazarne on Long Island. Love to you all as you grieve your loss.

Dear Frank & family,
With sorrow, we read about Jeanne’s recent death. Bill and I want to extend our deepest condolences. We share in your sorrow at the loss of this Godly woman, but celebrate with you that Jeanne is now with our loving Savior and will celebrate with him for all eternity. The hope of being united again in Christ is an anchor to hold on to.
Jeanne was a blessing in our lives, simply by sharing her home, a meal, and great conversation. We know she touched others’ lives through her volunteering, sharing a kind word or deed and in many other ways.
Rest in the arms of Jesus; linger in the memories of your time on earth together and know that we (as others are) will be praying for you today and into the future.
Surrounding you in love,
Dottie & Bill English
