William J. Childs, 92

William J. Childs, 92, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015, at his Lancaster City home. Born in Saint Clair, Schuylkill County, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Reagan) Childs. William’s wife of 60 years, Anna C. (Thomas) Childs, died in 2013.
A graduate of Saint Clair High School, he served in the US Navy as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate during WWII. William worked in the tile department at Armstrong for 36 years, retiring in 1985. He was a Philadelphia Sports Fan and he enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing. William was a member of Masonic Lodge, #285 F. & A.M. in Saint Clair.
Surviving are four sons: Bruce J. Childs, husband of Tawnya M. of Centre Hall, and Thomas W. Childs, husband of Stephanie M., William G. Childs, husband of Francine H. and Craig M. Childs, companion of Louise A., all of Lancaster; four grandchildren: Heather A., Joshua M. and Eric W. Childs, and Kerri L. Walton; 5 step-grandchildren: Michael M., Jessica L. and Christopher J. Wagner, and Jessica M. Myers and Lucas S. Keener; and three great-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter. Three siblings, Mary, Margaret and Edward, preceded William in death.
William’s memorial service will take place 11 AM Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA, with The Reverend Barbara J. Seras officiating. William’s family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice For All Seasons Foundation, 280 South Hill Drive, Grantville, PA 17028.

Well pappy I was so blessed to be a part a your family for such a long time. My fond memories go a long way..Chubb, you and the “boys” I will never forget going and playing pitch and putt up in Manheim, going to Park city with you and Chubb, mashed potaoes, the animals and you and Chubb playing parchese out in the kitchen. (now you won’t have to cheat in heaven..everyone wins.). The end of an era and onto new. Love to Bruce, Tommy, Billy and Craig and thank you Louise for all you did and keeping me in the loop.
