As I was standing in the long long line of Terry’s friends, it made me realize just how many lives Terry touched as he touched mine in so many ways. I was shocked to hear of the death of Terry, my long-time acquaintance and friend. We go all the way back to 1975, when we were both just out of military service and working as corrections officers at Lancaster County Prison. We spent many “second shift evenings” as colleagues there, sharing many memorable experiences. We also socialized together outside of our work. For several decades after we both left prison service, Terry and I would work together again, annually–as Lancaster County Sheriff he would arrange for my Lancaster city school students to tour various county and city government sites. Every time we met over these many years, Terry would always happily take considerable time from his work to “catch-up” with me. I will surely miss his friendship, and my sincere condolences to his family. Michael Witmer, Lancaster, PA.
