Dear Sally and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Terry’s passing. Sorry I did not make it through the line today in time to see you. As I was standing in the long long line of Terry’s friends, it made me realize just how many lives Terry touched as he touched mine in so many ways. I can’t express in words how much I looked up to him. From the time he talked me into going into the Marines as a teenager and throughout the rest of my adult life, I consider it truly and honor and blessing to have had his friendship. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Oh, Sally, we were so sorry to hear of Terry’s death. Another friend gone too soon. When I think of him the first word that comes to mind is his “silliness”. We did have a bunch of silly laughs and goings-on, didn’t we? Just keep leaning on the Good Lord for awhile longer to help you and Jen get through this journey that we all will need to take eventually. He left his legacy with so very many of us, may he rest in peace now. Love, Jinx and Ronnie

A truly good human being, who always saw the good in life, which is even more remarkable given his career choice and which reflects his internal moral compass. His departure from us is only in his physical presence, since memories are immortal. We all will hold those recollections close in our minds.

I was shocked to hear of the death of Terry, my long-time acquaintance and friend. We go all the way back to 1975, when we were both just out of military service and working as corrections officers at Lancaster County Prison. We spent many “second shift evenings” as colleagues there, sharing many memorable experiences. We also socialized together outside of our work. For several decades after we both left prison service, Terry and I would work together again, annually–as Lancaster County Sheriff he would arrange for my Lancaster city school students to tour various county and city government sites. Every time we met over these many years, Terry would always happily take considerable time from his work to “catch-up” with me. I will surely miss his friendship, and my sincere condolences to his family. Michael Witmer, Lancaster, PA.
