Mary R. Stone, 91

Mary R. Stone, 91, of Lancaster, PA, died Friday, March 4, 2016, at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late Richard P. Stone who died in 1995.
Born in Lancaster, PA, she was a daughter of the late Reuben H. and Sara C. (Nissley) Weaver. After graduating from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1942, she worked first at Armstrong World Industries and, later, Lancaster General Hospital. She retired from the hospital in 1994. Mary was a caring mother and devoted wife and filled her home with love. She was a devout longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church a member of the seniors’ club (Guys and Dolls) at St. Phillip’s Catholic Church. She was a fantastic cook and baker known for her cookies, pies, and cakes. Mary was also a life-long sports fan who enjoyed playing Pinochle, traveling, reading, and spending quality time with her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Joan M. Bishop of Lancaster; Eileen P. Martin of Willow Street; Kevin P. Stone, husband of Robin, both of Lancaster; Stephen R. Stone, husband of Jolene, both of Holtwood; Karen M. Ranzinger of Lancaster; Alan P. Stone of Lancaster; and Brian R. Stone, husband of Heather, both of Lancaster; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her four brothers Vincent, Henry, Jere, and James Weaver, and two sisters Helen Horst and Maureen Schweich.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA, 17602. Interment will be held at the St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. A viewing will be held at the Church one hour prior to the Funeral Mass.
