March 11, 2018

Barry S. “Scott” Hopkins II 36, of Lititz and Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, March 11th, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving parents. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania Scott was the son of Barry and Ruth Ann Hopkins.
Scott attended Warwick High School and Temple University where he studied Architecture and multiple languages.
Athletics was always a large part of his life. In his youth Scott played many years in Warwick Little League Baseball, Lititz Youth Soccer, threw javelin for the Warwick High School Track Team, and swam for the Woodridge Swim Club, Warwick high School Swim Team and the Five Star Swim Club. Among his many swimming accomplishments, he swam many times in the Junior Olympics and was the Eagles Mere Lake Swim Champion multiple times. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles’ fan and was ecstatic to witness them win their first Super Bowl Championship.
Scott enjoyed his summers in Eagles Mere lifeguarding, boating, swimming and was an avid fisherman. He was a longtime member of the Bass Master Fishing Club. He was a lover of all creatures large and small. He was a supporter and a monthly donor of the ASPCA.
Scott was passionate about his love of family, friends and his precious cat, Boots. He was extremely loyal, dedicated, quick witted and loved to make people laugh.
Scott was diagnosed with RSD/CRPS in 2011 and has been in pain 24/7 for eight years. He fought a heroic fight and never gave up!
We were so blessed to have Scott as long as we did!
There are no words to explain how much we love him and miss him.
In addition to his parents, Scott is survived by his several aunts, uncles and cousins as well as countless friends and his beloved cat, Boots, his loyal companion of 3 years. In addition to his grandparents, he was predeceased by his brother, Brett Austin Hopkins.

A Celebration of Scott’s life was held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Spacht-Snyder Family Funeral Home, 127 S. Broad Street, Lititz, PA 17543 with Scott’s family and closest friends. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins,
While we never met, Scott and I were friends through Bob Conn. We spent many nights living and laughing and watching so many bad movie. Scott was so quick witted and fun. I am lucky to have known him and to consider him a friend. Scott’s heroic battles in life are a model for us all.
While I do know the pain of losing a child, I can not imagine the depth of your sorrows. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family not just for now, but you will always be in my prayers.
You raised an amazing young man.
There is a web site you may want to look at in this awful time: thecompassionatefriends.org.
In December of each year there is a world wide candle lighting event to honor our lost children. Each year, as I pray for my daughter, i will pray to for Scott, that his memory will live with me.
