My Mom, Mary Dochterman, was very good friends with Pat. I had several opportunities to spend time with Pat because of their friendship. She was an amazing person, fun and also desiring to honor her Lord in her life. Our loss is her gain to be with Christ. Praying for you during this time of loss.

I shall remember four things about Pat. First, she chose to be joyful which made her a joy to be around. Second, she was always an encourager—often writing something positive about the flowers or the music or the sermon on a Sunday morning which I happily passed on to those teams. Third, she was diligently disciplined to exercise twice a day. Fourth, she emulated Jesus who came not to be served but to serve. In addition to her years of volunteering in the school district after she retired, she chaired the communion prep team at church (making sure to involve the children) and co-chaired the children’s Sunday school team. She was well-loved and will be greatly missed.

Your mother touched my heart and soul through her unique mentoring, educating and encouraging style in order to bring out the best in her students. Always an extra special day when she would bring her children to our classroom. May angel wings greet my favorite teacher, your mother.

I have such dear thoughts of Mrs. Gillespie from elementary school. She was the kind of teacher you think about all your life. I often speak of my time in her class to others whom I work with in my education profession. She made a big difference in letting me excel in subjects I was good at. She was personalizing education before it was cool. This is a huge loss for so many.
You have my condolences.
