Dr. Harris Lee Morris, Jr., 80

April 11, 2019

Dr. Harris Lee Morris, Jr., 80, of Brethren Village, passed away suddenly at UPMC Pinnacle Lititz, Thursday, April 11, 2019. Born in Syracuse, NY, Harris was the son of the late Harris L. and Ruth (Sampson) Morris, Sr. He was the loving and devoted husband of Barbara D. (Schnaufer) Morris with whom he celebrated 53 wonderful years of marriage.
After earning his doctorate in Chemical Engineering, Harris worked in a variety of industrial companies as a research scientist. Among his many achievements, he was the inventor of toner for Xerox along with inventions in the rubber industry for Uniroyal. He also ran his own businesses in real estate and mortgage lending.
The most important part of his life was his family who he loved dearly. He enjoyed planning wonderful vacations for them and setting very detailed itineraries for their travels. Some of their adventures led them to China, Tibet, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt, Tahiti, Peru, South Korea and throughout Europe. Vacations were always very special. In addition, he enjoyed everything about the water; whether that be sailing on Long Island Sound, piloting the family motor boat for water skiing, or just spending time with his family and friends at the lake house – these were the times that meant the most to him.
In addition to his wife, Harris is survived by two sons: Harris L. Morris, III, husband of Jeanne, of Allendale, NJ and Brandon C. Morris, husband of Lorna, of Choptank, MD; three grandchildren: Sarah B., Gabriella A., and Harris L. Morris, IV; and two sisters: Marjorie Morris Burns and Linda Carr, both of Lake George, NY.
Services for Harris will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Harris’ memory be made to the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute at Lancaster General Health Foundation, 609 N. Cherry Street P.O. Box 3555 Lancaster, PA 17604, in the memo of the check, please indicate: Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute.
