Mildred W. “Millie” Brown, 95

Mildred “Millie” Graham Weaver Brown, 95, formerly of Strasburg and Woodcrest Villa, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at the Mennonite Home on August 2, 2018.

Millie was born in Strasburg Township, the daughter of the late Mark E. Weaver and Ada (Graham) Weaver. She graduated from the Strasburg High School, class of 1941. She retired after 28 years of service from the Bank of Lancaster County, formerly the First National Bank of Strasburg.

Millie was a member of Calvary Church, Lancaster. She served as a volunteer at Lancaster General Hospital for 20 plus years, earning an award for over 4,000 hours of service. Millie enjoyed vacations in Colorado and Nebraska with her family, bus trips, and card clubs with her friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Sue Hammel, Lancaster, and Margaret Ann Eckman wife of Dr. James P. Eckman, Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Heather Rogers (Eric) Parker, CO, Sean Finn (Christy) Brookfield, CO, Matthew Hammel (Heather) Hallam, Nathan Hammel (Traci) Quarryville, Jonathan Eckman (Irene) London, England, Joanna Thompson (Greg) Omaha, NE. Seven great-grandchildren, Lorna and Fallan Rogers, Jordan and Robert Finn, James and Michael Hammel and George Kyme-Eckman.

In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by her sisters Emma W. Smith and Dorothy W. Wenger, a daughter, Linda Mae Brown Finn, a son-in-law, Timothy W. Hammel and a great-grandson, Joseph Hammel.

The family would like to thank the Mennonite Home and Hospice & Community Care for the excellent care given to Millie.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Millie’s Life on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Eagle Commons at Woodcrest Villa, 2001 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA. The family will greet friends from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Traditional interment in Longeneckers Reformed Mennonite Cemetery will be private.

Mildred Brown had a strong faith which helped her through hardships. Mary and I missed her when we both moved from Strasburg. Millie was a lovely lady.
