Mrs. Bowers & Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. I just heard. Mike was my “buddy” teacher at Seaford High back in 1980. I learned sooo much from him. He made me the teacher that I became. Although I was never the teacher that he was. He IS missed.

Mrs. Bowers & family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. B taught me political science and US History at the Senate Page School. More importantly, he taught us all about being better and responsible people. Mr. Bower’s enthusiasm, kindness, and humor made one of the most difficult academic experiences in a teenager’s life enjoyable. I looked forward to his classes and his influence is still with me.
Thank you all for sharing him with the pages.

It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of Mike. Mike and his family were a significantly positive part of my childhood. His parents and mine were close friends, and Mike and I played a lot of tackle football as kids – in their living room. How we never broke anything – including our bones – defies logic. I have nothing but smiles and laughter from those times. And now tears. Having moved from the Lancaster/Lititz area some 50 years ago, it shows the goodness of Mike and his family, that I still remember his parents and his brothers Jim and Bill – and their wives – so fondly. My wife had my parents’ slides converted to PC files a few years ago, and many pics of Mike and Gail and Bill and Julie and their mom and dad pop up on my laptop screen. To Gail and his family, I feel for your loss. He was a good one. Selfishly, we need more just like Mike.

My deepest sympathy to Mr B’s family. I will never forget and as a teacher and administrator now, I still used this:
In his class we had an essay portion on the test. He gave directions and then proceeded to the board and wrote B.S.! Then he turned and in a Stern voice said “BE SPECIFIC!” Loved it. Never forget it. He was very knowledgeable and we all loved him. RIP Mr B.

Jim and Bill, I am sorry for your loss of Mike. Unfortunately, we are getting to an age when we can have a loss of a sibling but none of us want it to happen. God bless you and your families.

Mr. Bowers was one of my favorite teachers in life. I was in his class at the page school, and will always remember some very meaningful advice he gave me at a moment of sadness and frustration. I wish I had similarly consoling words for your family now, but know his words and example continue in all of his students. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Hello Mrs. Bowers,
It is with great sadness that I write this message. As you know, I worked with “Mr. B” as I nicknamed him for several years at the United States Senate Page School prior to his retirement. He was a very knowledgeable, kind and funny person. The last one is still hard to believe because you would never know it from his strong exterior.
We could always count on Mr. B’s perfect timing, pristine attire, and most of all, his enthusiasm for “Constitution Day.” I will continue to cherish my fond memories, pray for you and your family and wear my loafers in honor of him.
Sincerely,
Nikita Thompson

Gail, sorry for to hear that Mike passed away. I enjoyed working with Mike at the Page School. I remember plannig lessons with him on teaching the Pages on the operation of firing cannons and he would demonstrate the steps to fire cannons at Gettysburg.

Hi Ms. Bowers – I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Bowers was my history teacher in Page School and he prepared me so well to return to my state and for later in life. He was a great teacher and mentor.
