Kay J. Starr, 81

April 23, 2023

Kay Jacqueline Starr, 81, of Lancaster, passed away at home on Sunday, April 23, 2023.

Born in Ephrata, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jacques and Alverta Miller. Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis M. Starr, who passed away in 2021, and her brother, Ronald Lee Miller.

Kay was a beloved mother, sister, grandma, great-grandma, and friend. She is survived by her five children; Missy Hammonds, Sheri Torres, Terry Stevens, Robert Krauskop and Samuel Krauskop Jr. She is also survived by her sister, Lisa Marie Sweigart. Kay leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

Family was the center of Kay’s life. She treasured her roles as mom, nanny, and grammy, which she filled with grace and ease. She was truly the best mom and grandma anyone could have asked for.

Kay had a gift for decorating spaces; no matter how big or small, she made any space beautiful and cozy. She loved shopping at home décor stores to find the perfect piece for every space. She also had a knack for cleaning, which she made a career of.

Kay enjoyed testing her luck at Hollywood Casino or at home on lottery tickets. During the spring and summer, you would find Kay outside soaking in the sunshine and working on her tan. She enjoyed driving with family all over Lancaster to attend the best yard sales. She was a fan of eating at local restaurants and satisfied her sweet tooth with ice cream, danishes, pies, or cookies.

We will deeply miss talking and spending time with her, laughing with her, and simply being around the presence of the wonderful and loving mom and nanny she was.

A celebration of Kay’s life will be held at a later date. More details to come from the family.
