Robert M. Bashore Jr., MD, 97

Robert M. Bashore, Jr., MD, aged 97, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Masonic Village. He was born in Hershey, PA, the son of the late Gladys (Levens) and Robert Merle Bashore. Robert was the beloved husband of the late Audrey Norman Bashore.

He was a proud graduate of Palmyra High School and Lebanon Valley College. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Bashore was certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and was a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lancaster General Hospital. Dr. Bashore was an active member of the Lancaster NE Rotary and a dedicated director of the Lancaster County Medical and Dental Bureau.

Dr. Bashore was also a dedicated veteran of the US Navy, serving as a Tech Mate 3rd Class from 1944 to 1946 during World War II.

He is survived by his children: Robert M. Bashore, III, husband of Michelle of Michigan, Pam Vigunas, wife of Michael of Lititz, James Michael, husband of Connie of Maryland, and Jill Marie, wife of Raul Jimenez of Florida; 7 Grandchildren; 7 Great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Dr. Bashore was preceded in death by granddaughter Jasmine and his brothers Sidney and Leonard.

Family and friends will be receiving from 6pm -7:30pm on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.

A private service will be held at Sell Chapel at Masonic Village, with interment to follow privately at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Neffsville, PA, with Military Honors.
