Mary B. Markovich, 97

Mary B. Markovich, 97, of Reading and formerly of Lewes, DE, Ephrata and Lancaster, died peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Spruce Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation, West Reading. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Angelis and Fotini Fotis Sahlanis. She was the loving wife of Louis Markovich who died in February of 2022. Mary was a devoted member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Lancaster. She was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, Lancaster and went on to attend business school. Mary took her knowledge and then worked in the business department at Hager Department Store, Lancaster and in the Fulton Bank Trust Department. She had a love for the beach, mostly Lewes, DE, and she was known for her Baklava.
Surviving is a son; George N. Soukas, of Lancaster, his Godson, John Roumeliotis, of Lititz, an aunt, Koula Photis, cousins; Helen Vasilades, Gust Fotis, Gus Photis, Linda Photis, Paul Photis, and a Godson, George Photis.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mary’s Funeral Service at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603 on, Thursday January 25, 2024, at 10:30 AM. There will be a viewing at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park Cemetery, Lancaster.

Mary never met a stranger. She was the angel of hospitality. She lived Matthew 25! George, she was a blessing to all. May her memory be eternal and an inspiration to emulate her generosity.

Mary was a kind and generous soul. She always enjoyed entertaining anyone who would visit her home in Lewes, Delaware. Markella and I send our deepest sympathy to our cousin George. May her memory be eternal!

Mary was a loving,kind,and generous lady who was close friends with my mother Fatika Xenias. She would do anything for people. I have fond memories growing up in Lancaster and having Mary drive me to Greek school! George, you had a wonderful mother and she will truly be missed.May her memory be eternal!
