Donald W. Slover, 77

Donald W. Slover, 77, of Lancaster, passed away at Neffsville Nursing Rehabilitation Center on Friday, February 9, 2024. He was born in Lancaster, the son of the late Frank Slover, Jr., and Ruth (Martin) John.

Don graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School Class of 1964. He worked as an inventory control manager on military defense contracts, first for International Signal and Control (ISC) and then for Sechan Electronics based in Lititz, PA.

He previously attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lancaster, and was a former member of Conestoga Lions Club, volunteering countless hours in the BBQ pits for the annual Chicken BBQ, raising funds for various charitable organizations.

Don’s wittiness and laughter was infectious. Don took immense joy in helping others. When called, Don was always there to help; no questions asked. Don also loved history, learning about every facet of WWII being a favorite pastime.

Don is survived by family members to include his former wife and life-long friend, Carolyn (Shuman) Slover, their son Chad M. Slover, husband of Jennifer, three grandchildren, Caden Slover, Cierstyn Slover, and Calvin Slover, his sister Patricia Carpenter, nephews Brent Carpenter, Brad Capenter, Ronald Flory, Donald Flory, Peter Slover and Robert Resch Jr., and nieces Kerry Egan, Kristen Egan Nitterhouse and Kelly Egan Ruoff. In addition to his parents Don was predeceased by his twin brother Ronald Slover, his sister Constance Flory, and his granddaughter Cayleigh Slover.

A celebration of Don’s life will take place at 4:00 pm Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, with The Rev. Mark J. Thiboldeaux, Sr. officiating. His family will greet guests from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Interment will be private.
