Barbara E. Clark, 93
June 02, 2024
Barbara E. Clark, 93, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Penn State Lancaster Hospital.
She was born April 6, 1931 in Newville, PA to James Howard Fry and Barbara Ellen (Quawn) Fry. She was the wife of Ralph E. “Mike” Clark, Jr. They were married for 61 years prior to his passing in 2016.
Barbara was raised in Lancaster and attended Lancaster City Schools. After high school, Barbara completed an apprenticeship as a seamstress at Mary Sachs store where she became known as one of Lancaster’s finest seamstresses. She then went to work at the first Casual Corner store in Lancaster. Barbara also worked for Shirley Summers Bridal Shop doing alterations on gowns for several years. After 15 years or working as a skilled seamstress, she became a homemaker and stayed home to raise her three children. Barbara enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and needlework. She enjoyed shopping and going out to eat. She also enjoyed making clothes for her daughter, Stephanie and doing alterations for friends. Barbara and her husband, Mike always had an open-door policy, especially at holidays, would welcome anyone who needed a place to stay or needed a meal. She enjoyed taking trips with her husband in the fall to Skyline Drive and Harpers Ferry, WV. She was a person who always made friends wherever she went. She was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
Barbara is survived by twin sons: Michael S. Clark and his wife Susan Eshelman of Lancaster, and Jeffrey A. Clark and his wife Margaret of Harrisburg; her daughter, Stephanie L. Logan (who was her best friend and caregiver) and her husband Sidmot of Lancaster; a brother, Wellington Fry of Lancaster; her sister-in-law, Joanna Williams of Lancaster; a goddaughter, Nicole Ray of Narberth, PA; a special nephew, Gary Fry of Lancaster and a special great-nephew, Douglas Johnson, who Mike and Barbara raised like a son; a special niece, Barbara Johnson who assisted with Barbara’s caregiving during her illness; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph E. “Mike” Clark; her sisters, Joan Fry, Jacqueline Barbour, and Myrtle Johnson; and brothers, Cecil Fry and Richard Fry.
Homegoing services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 701 N. Lime St., Lancaster, with Rev. Roland P. Forbes, Jr. officiating. Family and friends will be received prior to the service at 12PM. Burial will follow in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to Jennifer Van Blargan for her continued support and care she provided to Barbara.

I feel honored and privileged to have known Mrs. Clark. I didn’t have the pleasure of knowing her for a lifetime or even years, but in just a few months this woman’s kindness and gentle soup radiated. I pray her family and friend’s find peace and strength through this difficult time. And Stephanie, I have witnessed many good caregivers in my career but none quite like you. The love and dedication you had for your mother was one of a kind and did not go unnoticed. You showed great selflessness, devotion and love and I feel it deserves recognition. You are an amazing human being and I am grateful to have witnessed the love you and your mom shared. It’s time for you to take care of yourself and I hope in time you will do so. Nurse Aubrey

Stephy, Michael and Jeff,
I give my deepest condolences. May the love and memories you shared bring you comfort and strength in the days ahead. Her presence graced our lives with warmth and love, and her departure leaves a void that words can scarcely fill. I take solace in knowing that my Aunt Bobbie lived the best and fullest life possible.
Stephy, Michael and Jeff took the best care of her. Before and during her illness Stephy made sure she wanted for absolutely nothing!
Aunt Bobbie had a spark and a sassiness no one in their right mind would dare to challenge. She had a way with words for sure and I will miss hearing them. She helped to raise me and I often told her how she was an integral part in shaping who I am today. I love her and will miss her immensely.
Love always and forever,
Birdie

Steph,
We are so sad to hear of your mom’s passing! It was a sad day at Medical Infusion when you called in to tell us. We hope you are finding peace during this tough time. I know she is eating popcorn and watching Wendy Williams up in heaven!

I grew up across the street from the Clarks and even after I grew up and moved away part of my ritual whenever I returned home was to stop by and spend time with Mrs Clark. I truly enjoyed our time together reminiscing about all the families on East End Avenue.
I will greatly miss her.

My prayers to Stephie, Mike and Jeff. Aunt Bobbie will be truly missed but she gained her wings and will now be with Uncle Mike and her siblings. What a gathering they will have. Cherish the memories and know she will be with you always in spirit and in your hearts. I love you all, as Aunt Bobbie would say “Linny Finx”. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

What a beautiful memorial for a spectacular woman! It was such an honor to get to care for her and know her and her daughter Stephanie. They adopted me as their family, which has given me great joy.
Barb was a very special lady and she did make friends everywhere she went. She loved her sweets! We had so many great conversations that I will treasure!
I’m so thankful that God brought Barb and Stephanie into my life.
I will always remember Barb for her smile and spunk and am so thankful I had the privilege of knowing her.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Stephanie. I love you!
