Ruby J. C. Botham, 90

Ruby J. C. Botham, 90, passed away at her Strasburg, PA, residence on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Ruby shared 69 years of marriage with her husband John Lambert Botham before his passing on March 4, 2024. John and Ruby were both born in Wishaw, Scotland and they immigrated to the United States on July 7, 1956.

She graduated from Wishaw High School. And worked as a stenographer at Armstrong World Industries until adopting their sons. To be close to home Ruby worked part-time at First National Bank of Strasburg. Lastly, she worked as a secretarial assistant at Hamilton Watch Company for 16 years.

Ruby was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Strasburg, serving in the nursery, preparing the bulletin, as a Sunday School teacher, participating in United Methodist Women, operating the curtain for the Christmas Pageant, and enjoying small group gatherings.

With her family Ruby enjoyed travelling the U.S. and Canada, on many camping trips, and returning home to Scotland. John and Ruby last travelled home in 2017.

Surviving Ruby are her nephews Craig Hill and Ross Hill, and her great-niece Kristy Hill, all of Scotland.

In addition to her husband John, Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Annie (Cowan) Shubotham, her sons, William Gordon Botham in 1983, and Andrew Arthur Botham in 2016, her sister Ann Hill, and her brother John Shubotham.

Both Ruby’s and John’s cremated remains will be returned home to Scotland.
