Christopher David Barlieb, 62

August 20, 2024

Christopher David Barlieb, 62, passed away at his Manor Township home on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

Chris was born in Lancaster, son of the late Elvin S. and E. Shirley (Brill) Barlieb. He graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School, Class of 1980, served four years, and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1981, earned the rank of Corporal.

He worked as head of security at Kunzler & Company, Inc. for 20 years, retiring last January. Chris then worked for John K. Garvey Masonry.

Chris was a good grandpa to his grandson Arthur. He enjoyed taking Arthur swimming and always spoke about him. Chris relished family gatherings and travelling with them. He ended conversations with his family by saying “I Love You.” Chris also loved his dogs Ozzie and Winkie.

Always thinking of others, Chris donated over 7 gallons of blood.
He had an eclectic mix of interests as a fan of the Flyers, Phillies, Pirates and Raiders. He was an avid bicyclist, outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman. Chris collected Moore Dairy milk bottles. He was a history buff, specifically the Civil War, and he had a framed newspaper photo of FDR’s funeral train and casket on the wall, and a photo of Ronald Reagan on his fridge as well as many family photos.

Chris’s family includes his son, Nicholas C. Barlieb, husband of the late Stephanie Smith of Lancaster, daughter Danielle R. Barlieb and her son Arthur Cook of Manheim, five siblings, Linda Swearingen (Paul) of Lancaster, Mark F. Barlieb, Lancaster, Sue A. Haar, Bonita Springs, FL, Amy E. High (partner Paul Nagle) of Strasburg, and Marcia J. Diem (Jeremy) of Lancaster, his uncle Ronald Brill of Philadelphia and nieces and nephews.

Chris’s family will receive guests from 1;00 to 2;00 pm, followed by the funeral at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.

I don’t know if anyone will ever read this, but I wanted to thank everyone who has reached out and shared memories of my dad. He was a really cool guy. Perhaps the coolest guy. Please feel free to reach out to me on Facebook or Instagram to share you pics and memories of my dad. I would love to see and hear from you!! The day before he passed he rode his bike with friends and texted my mom about picking up my son (Arthur) the next day. When we didn’t hear from him the next day we knew something was wrong. We’re working through it though and your memories would help me!

Arthur, know that your Grandpa loved you so much. He talked about you often to his Kunzler co-workers and always said that you were “a cool kid”. He loved the time that he spent with you.
