Donald E. “Don” Armold, 81

October 02, 2024

Donald E. “Don” Armold, 81, of Lancaster, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Born in Marietta, he was the son of the late Woodrow W. and Mary Jane Kline Armold. Don was the loving husband of Genevieve Segro Armold and for nearly 32 years they took on life’s adventure together. He was a proud graduate of Donegal High School and later went on to join the Marine Corps where he would dedicate 6 years of his life. During his time in the service, he attended and graduated from IBM School in New York City. He later was honorably discharged with the rank of SGT, E-S, USMC.

After Don served his country, he began to work for PPL Electric where he would spend the next 29 years and would ultimately retire as the Personnel Manager. Don was both a member of the American Legion, Post #466 for over 47 years and a Past Master of Ashara Masonic Lodge, #398. Later in life Don continued his dedication to the military by volunteering his time in the Red Rose Honor Guard. He stayed active in his community by serving as an official PIAA umpire for 15 years as well as the Marietta athletic association and the Donegal Braves Football Association.

Don enjoyed spending any time he could spare in nature and was a member of Donegal Hunting Club. Whether it was the woods or by the water, you could find Don there with a smile on his face. He often enjoyed visiting Juniata County where he would fish for the largest fish and sit in the woods hoping for a nice buck. He also enjoyed playing golf.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Genevieve, is a daughter, Melissia A. Nassar, a grandson, Daniel E. Nassar, as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family who will miss him immensely. Preceding him in death are two brothers, George B., Paul “Pete”, a sister, Beverly J. Ruby.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Don’s Funeral service oat the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM. As a fellow Veteran, Donnie welcomed me soon after I became a member at Foresters of Columbia in 2019.  I shall never forget his warm smile and love for his service as a Marine.  Semper Fidelis!

Genny, both you and Donnie were wonderful colleagues and a great help to me during my time at PP&L in Lancaster.  Donnie took me to several funerals of current and retired employees. He considered honoring these people and their families at the time of their death a very important part of his job.  May God bless you and support you thru these coming days.

So sad to hear of Don’s passing. I got to know Don while volunteering with the RRVHG. I missed him when he left the group.  When he saw the Christmas apron I made, he really wanted you to have one. He was so excited to give it to you. He was a friendly and thoughtful person. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May God give you peace and comfort. Karen and Mike Michener

What a bright light Donnie was to our neighborhood!  We’ve only lived here for going on 5 years after moving here from Hershey area.  Donnie was a joy to know & we always enjoyed his funny stories about life.  My husband and I got a kick out him sitting in the driveway keeping an eye on all thing’s Wetherburn. Nothing he didn’t know or would find out.  Always had a smile on his face.  Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Donnie was a joy to know.  He will be greatly missed.
