Helen and Bill you probably so not remrmber me from school a few years behind you but my daughter had Miss Fehl as her 4 th grade teacher . I posted this on FB in tribute to the best teacher ever for a kid to have.
Last week a great Lancaster County teacher passed away Joan Fehl . She was at Hambright Elementary for years until her retirement. She was my daughters 4 th grade teacher , my daughter loved her and think all the kids that ever had her , did also. I never heard a negative word about her. She was a teacher who not only had respect from her students , but she respected every student. I’ll never forget some boys were acting (up as 4 th graders are apt to do , pushing shoving ect ) she told them to stop it , as one could get hurt . Well one boy apparently did not get the message , she went over took his arm and said Mr ….( name not needed ) maybe you had trouble hearing me , and repeated her words. She had disciplined him but never talked down to him. She always called them Mr when they were disciplined , and Miss for the gals and never berated them. My dtr was into theater from a very young age , and Miss Fehl if able would attend it , and always a very nice note . I’m sure she did this with others in their endeavors. also. She was a perfect teacher for all the kids . I’d see her varied places over the years and she never failed to ask about my dtr and what she was doing , and also would tell me about others in the class , and what they were doing ect. She was just a wonderful teacher for those kids to have. Thanks Miss Fehl for being a most positive influence on my dtr. So glad she had her for a teacher .. she was an ideal one. May you RIP Condolences Gail Shiffler Smith and Jennifer Smith
