John D. Showers, 84

Through many tears the family of John D. Showers announce his passing on October 21, 2024. He was 84. He was a lifelong resident and was born in Lititz to the late Eugene and Lizzie Showers. He shared nearly 30 years with his loving wife, Darlene (Shreiner) Showers until her passing in 2014.

John was known as a staple of the Lititz community. He graduated from Warwick High School, class of 1958 and was the proprietor of John’s Bar, which is now the Hideaway. He retired from Southern Container Corp. and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles, and Phillies fan.

He will be sorely missed by his daughter, Sherri McIlvaine of Lititz, stepchildren, Vickie, wife of Jeff Siegrist of York, Bonnie Barnhart of Lititz, Shawn Minnich, husband of Jen of York, and Deb Nissley of Lebanon, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, beloved dog Buddy, and siblings, Robert Showers, Dale Showers (Pat), Connie (Phil Leininger), Donald “Bug” Showers, Betsy (Alan Green). He was preceded in passing by his parents, his wife Darlene, and siblings, Dawn Lumpkin, Glenn Showers, Joyce Showers, and Sally Showers.

The family invite guests to a viewing on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, beginning at 1 PM. A funeral service honoring John will follow at 2 PM. Interment will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Brickerville. Memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to the Humane League of PA.
