Timothy A. Mentzer, 78
March 24, 1946 - December 09, 2024
The family of Timothy A. Mentzer is deeply saddened to announce his passing on December 9, 2024, at Masonic Village Hospice in Elizabethtown, PA. He was born on March 24, 1946, in Lancaster, PA, to Clarence E. and Ella Mentzer. Tim shared over 52 years of love and cherished memories with his devoted wife, Margaret “Peg” (Rudy) Mentzer.
At the age of 19, Tim proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, stationed in Thailand. After his service, he spent 30 years working at Kerr Glass as a set-up man, where he was responsible for setting up molds.
Tim’s life was a gift to his family, especially after his remarkable recovery from esophageal cancer, which gave them an additional 14 years together. During this time, Tim embraced the joy of travel, including a cross-country road trip visiting places such as national parks and taking a European/Mediterranean cruise. Above all, Tim will be fondly remembered for his unwavering support at his grandchildren’s activities, as well as his attendance at many sporting events to cheer on family and friends.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Peg; their children, Tara (wife of Andrew Oltmans) of Elizabethtown and Brad Mentzer of Denver; grandchildren Lily Oltmans of Reston, VA, and Seth and Rene Oltmans of Elizabethtown; his grand puppies, Poseidon and Louie, sister-in-law JoAnn Mentzer of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Harry E., Clarence E., Jr., Donald R., Shirley Neff, and twin brother Thomas E. Mentzer.
A funeral service to honor Tim’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11 AM at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. A viewing will begin at 10 AM at the funeral home. Internment will take place immediately following the service at Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice by Masonic Village or the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Center.

I am so sorry to learn of Tim’s passing. He was a great guy. We had many conversations on days he was walking his grand-dogs around the neighborhood. I’m so blessed that both of you put up with Mike hanging out at your house with Brad during junior and senior high school. I’m sorry that I can’t attend the service since my friend’s husband’s service is exactly the same time. Sending prayers for Tim and the family.

Peg & Family,
we are so sorry to hear about the passing of Tim. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May you find comfort in Gods promise of eternal life. I have so many priceless memories of Tim from growing up with my cousins who were Tim’s neighbors, the Florys. Years later I got to work with Tim at Kerr Glass. Then reconnecting with our Kerr family at gatherings after 25 years of not seeing you guys. Godspeed my life long friend. Peg, we will continue to lift you all up in our daily prayers.
