Joseph Jakob, 96
August 16, 1928 - February 12, 2025
The family of Joseph Jakob wish to announce his passing on February 12, 2025, at Trillium Place, following a brief illness. He was 96 years old. Born August 16, 1928, in Harbach, Germany, he was the son of Josef and Mary Jakob. He was the devoted husband of Josephine Jakob for over 62 years until her passing in 2016.
A beloved husband, father, and “Opa”, his German heritage was something he treasured and enjoyed sharing with his family. He was an honorary member of the Lancaster Leiderkranz, partaking in German schuhplattler and playing schakopf and eis stock schiesen. He found solace outdoors walking, gardening flowers and vegetables, as well as camping.
He will be sorely missed by his daughter, Anita, wife of Paul C. Swisher, of Mountville, a grandson, Paul J. Swisher, husband of Kim of Columbia, great-grandsons Jacob and Emerson, sisters, Marianne Ellinger and Hilde Jakob, and nieces, Ingeborg Zimmerman and Anita Fernandes wife of Joe Fernandes. He was preceded in passing by his parents, his loving wife, and brothers, August Jakob, Hans Jakob, and Willie Jakob.
A funeral service honoring Joseph will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, beginning at 11:30 AM. The family welcome guests to a recitation of the rosary beginning at 10 AM with a viewing following until the time of service. Interment to follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are encouraged to be sent to Trillium Place, Tandem Living.
Joseph’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Trillium Place, for the unconditional love, support, and care provided to Joseph.

Dear Anita and family,
So sorry to see the passing of your dad.
Joe, and your mom, we’re so very kind to Stan and me through our time on East King St. I think Stan looked to your dad as a father figure. He couldn’t have had a better example of a kind, hardworking, loving individual.
My condolences,
Sue Peznosky

Anita, I know it is a fact of life, but this still brought me immense sadness. Your Dad was the last of that generation from our small group ‘on the hill’. I can’t believe it is almost 10 years since both our Mothers have passed on. But now your Mom and Dad are united. Please accept my deepest condolences over this recent event. Your Mom was probably my Mother’s closest friend. gary
