Kathryn B. Coonts, 64, of Lancaster, PA, formerly of Apple Valley, CA passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Her warmth, creativity, and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Born in Inglewood, CA, Kathryn was the cherished daughter of the late Bernice Laurine (White) and George Samuel Rollos. She was the devoted wife of Theodore “Ted” W. Coonts, Jr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories.
Kathryn was a woman of many talents and passions. As a gifted musician, she found joy in playing the flute, filling hearts with melody. She was a talented artist, whose paintings and sculptures reflected her vibrant spirit and creative soul. Her love of words made her a thoughtful poet, weaving emotions into verses that will be treasured by those who knew her.
A voracious reader, Kathryn found comfort and adventure in the pages of countless books, often reading to Ted. She delighted in watching ballet, figure skating, and gymnastics, appreciating the grace and artistry in each performance. She embraced the great outdoors, spending cherished moments camping, birdwatching, biking, and taking memorable road trips with her family.
Kathryn also had an affinity for shopping and a passion for travel, especially with family, creating unforgettable experiences. She loved to dance, bringing joy and laughter to those around her. She also had a deep love for her beloved cats, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.
In addition to her beloved husband, Ted, Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Amanda Rogowski, wife of Bryan, of Clayville, NY; her grandchildren, Maxwell and Lilly; and her sister, Elaine Kratofil, wife of Dr. Steven Kratofil, of Apple Valley, CA.
A Celebration of Kathryn’s Life will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in The Community Room at The Clock Towers, 917 Columbia Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603. Family and friends will be received from 2 PM until the time of service.
Kathryn’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her, as her legacy of creativity, kindness, and joy continues to inspire.

I am so sorry to hear of Kathryn’s passing. Though I only ever knew her in the context of illness, she was a bright light in the world. I always enjoyed our conversations about audiobooks and her life’s adventures. Condolences to her friends and family
