To the family and friends of Colonel John H. Byerly Sr.,
Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. Though I only had the opportunity to visit with him twice, I am saddened to hear of his passing. Reading about his life and hearing from those who knew him, it’s clear that he was a deeply caring and loving man — someone who touched many lives with his strength, dedication, and compassion. As his daughter, I only wish I had the chance to truly know him in the way so many of you did.
My thoughts are with you all during this time of mourning and remembrance.
With sympathy,
Tina

I will forever be grateful for the love John gave myself, my husband Michael, my sister and her family and especially to our mother Judy through all the years together. Mom was the love of his life and showed it in everything he did for her before and after her passing in 2019. Even though I no longer lived close by, we kept in touch and had many a laugh and great talks. I will miss those talks. May he now be with Mom forever in love and peace. Micheal and I love and miss you, John.
Love, Elaine & Michael Catanese

The Stroup family will miss John tremendously. I was proud to call him my step-father. He treated my family very well over the years and loved his step-grandsons, Zac & Griffin. He also loved and missed my mother Judy so much since her passing in 2019, and couldn’t wait to be with her again.
Love you and miss you John!
Suz, Jim, Zac & Griffin

To the Family of Col John Byerly Sr:
It is with a heavy heart that I read this OB. I worked for and with John directly for a number of years, and indirectly for half of my military career. He was not just a boss, but a friend and I was honored to serve in his wedding. We had many good times both professionally and personally and contained just as many stories. We haven’t seen each other for a while but he was never forgotten and will not be forgotten. Our condolences to the family may he Rest in Peace and may God comfort you in this time of loss.

Sending thoughts out for John’s family. I had the honor of having John as part of my family when he was married to Judy. I can honestly say that John was one of the nicest people I ever had the pleasure of meeting. I always enjoyed our chats at holiday gatherings. John will surely be missed.

Pray for peace to all affected by this tragedy. I am glad to have met and helped him with turning off closed captioning on his TV one time. I learned a little about his service to our country and will never forgot him and his relationship with my son (Nate) where he was living. Thank you John. God speed and may you be at peace.
