Andrea J. Francos, 62

November 25, 2024

Andrea J. Francos, 62, of Sinking Spring, PA, formerly of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024 surrounded by the family she anchored in a room filled with love in her home. She fought a courageous battle for over three years with small cell lung cancer.

Born on March 29, 1962 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Andrea was the daughter of the late John W. Benjamin, and Patricia Benjamin McMican. She was married to William S. Francos celebrating her 38th wedding anniversary in July.

Andrea moved to Lancaster and spent her formative years there excelling in sports earning varsity letters in three sports. She was such a great athlete that her graduating class voted her the most athletic female athlete. She attended cosmetology school and while not practicing the profession, she was the go-to for the best haircuts and professional beauty supplies for family and friends. Andrea worked hard at various jobs to sustain income while her husband was in school, and once he graduated, she was able to take on her most treasured job raising her four beautiful children and wonder dogs (Ralphy, Thor, Gus, Niko, AJ, Oscar, Bailey Jean and Annie) making her home and garden a place with open doors. All were welcome in to her home (after they took their shoes off, of course).

Andrea and Bill have four incredible children, who were the center of Andrea’s life. She leaves behind Lauren Kohr and her husband Jarad, Emily and her soul mate Daniel Guthrie, Mary Calloway and her husband Jaylin, and Andrew and his soul mate Jillian Horst. In addition to her husband and children, Andrea is survived by her loving and most wonderful grandchildren: John, Eleni and Andrea Kohr, and her soon-to-be-born grandson Jaylin Calloway, Jr. In addition to her husband, mother and step-father Paul McMican, Andrea is survived by her sisters Teresa Benjamin, Rita Dreyer, and Kathy Langsett, and her brothers Herbert and John Benjamin. She will also be lovingly missed by her brother-in-law George Francos and sister-in-law, Barbara Francos, whose steadfast support through this journey were ineffably comforting. Andrea’s siblings’ children were truly her children too, and she will be missed by: Bobby and Kristen Langsett; John and Brittany Langsett; Shanese and Alec Epstein; Kate and Anthony Pennline; Alison and Drew Pennline; Jillian and Kyle Almoney; Patrick Beck and his fiancé Lynette Carter; Sarah and Geoff Lucas; Kendall Beck; Caleb Benjamin; Julie and Charlie Montgomery; and Greg Francos.

Andrea was truly a loving, good and decent person, who took the mantle of motherhood and ran with it to raise her children and grandchildren to be dedicated, hard-working, loving people. The world is a better place because she and people she befriended throughout her life are blessed for having known her. Bill and the kids promised her that they would carry on the many traditions she created for them; and to lead fulfilling, good and productive lives with the work ethic and kind selflessness that she instilled in them. A void has been created in the Francos and Benjamin families that can never be filled, and she is so very deeply missed. Our pain is assuaged in part because of the core values of love, kindness, empathy and generosity towards others she extended to them and all she knew. We pray she rests in eternal peace, and continues to show us many brilliant yellow leaves as our lives move forward.

A visitation will be held at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pike Lititz, PA 17543 on December 4, from 6-8 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 5 at 11AM at St. Ignatius Loyola Church 2600 St. Albans Dr. Reading, PA 19609 with Rev. Richard Brensinger as Celebrant. Friends and family may also visit with the family at church beginning from 9:30AM to 11Am on Thursday, December 5. Interment will be private at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster, PA.

What a great lady Andrea became. I knew her and her family as a kid. We were neighbors for many years. Our mothers were best friends. You will be missed.
