Ann M. Hussar, 81
June 03, 2019
Ann M. Hussar, 81, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully early Monday, June 3, 2019. Born in Hazleton, PA, a second generation Italian American, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Basile) Belletiere. Ann was the loving wife of John R. Hussar, and together they shared almost 60 years of marriage
After graduating from Hazleton Area High School, Ann went on to attend the Hazleton State General Hospital School of Nursing, from where she proudly graduated with the Class of 1958. She worked as a registered nurse for more than 55 years at the former St. Joseph Hospital, and later Lancaster Regional, from where she retired.
Ann was a devoted member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, where she participated in many of the committees and groups. She was also a very active member of her community, and served as an Election Judge in the East Hempfield area for many years. Ann’s homes were her pride and joy, and she received great pleasure from entertaining family and friends. She was an avid gardener and was especially known for the beautiful flowers that she grew. Ann enjoyed following all sports, but especially loved college football and was a fan of Notre Dame.
In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by her children, John R. Hussar, Jr. and his wife Denise of Bel Air, MD, Eric C. Hussar and his wife Carol of Lewisburg, PA, and Jennifer Nichols and her partner Debra Korth of Fredrick, MD. Also surviving are her grandchildren, John Tanner, Austin, Bryson, Madeline, Lily, Grace, Celia, Elizabeth, Zoe and Ava; and a sister, Connie Curran and her husband Francis of Hazleton, PA. In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her son, J. Patrick Hussar.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 14, 2019, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 East King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602, where family and friends will be received beginning at 10 AM. My prayers are with you all during this time. I have very fond memories as a young girl and being in the mix with the Hussars , the ST Leos group and or the neighborhood with my brothers ( David and Thomas ) and parents ( Patricia and Big John) prior to my parents divorce. Your home was always warm and full of love and laughter with boys being boys , Jen was too little then … I can hear Mrs Hussar’s voice and laughter even today and Johns too … As a dear friend of my moms we have very fond memories of a beautiful woman with a beautiful heart and love for life and her family . Eric , John Jr, Jennifer and Mr Hussar I pray for peace during this time. Hugs

How I met Ann,
it was an early Saturday morning as I was setting up for the SLH yearly yardsale, a wonderful little lady came bounding down my drive in search of goodies for grandchildren
we chatted as she looked around making a large pile to purchase. Baskets of dinosaurs and other animals. She and i were having a good time discovering how small the world was. My husband had gone to school with her children etc…
we talked about PSU and how they had a wonderful little place along the water in the mountains that we may wasn’t to check out!
Well, i helped load up all of her goodies and off she went, but not for long!
She came back with doughnuts and coffee in hand and i pulled up a chair for her, smiling all the way towards the end of the day we had made a wonderful friendship.
Though it was only a few short years i felt i made a lifetime friend and I’m sure that’s how everyone felt about ANN. We did stay in that special cottage once and had a wonderful weekend. We had been invited for a few get togethers at her home and had our first calameta
Bloody Mary with her and John. And the Tee Pee that she bought from me raimained in her front yard next to the flag pole that meant so much to her and John.
I will always keep you in my heart, thank you for coming into my life and making me smile
god speed, Abby
