Anna A. Heinly, 84
March 26, 2016
A woman who always had a smile for everyone – Anna A. Heinly, 84 – passed away on March 26, 2016. She was a lifelong resident of Royersford and recently of Landis Homes, Lititz, PA.
Anna was an honor graduate of the class of 1949 of Royersford High School where she enjoyed the drama program. She was a faithful member of Mingo Church of the Brethren and then Parker Ford Church where she sang in the choir. She once sang “Silent Night” to Harvey while she was sleeping, evidence of the pleasure she took in singing.
Just as many of you would claim about your family member, Anna was the best wife and mother. Her family was a priority, and that included her 25 nieces and nephews to whom she wrote personal Christmas and birthday notes. She took homemaking seriously, which included freezing and canning homegrown fruits and vegetables, year after year. Her creativity was expressed through her cooking, baking, and sewing. She modeled doing things well – her children learned much from both her and Harvey.
Anna and Harvey enjoyed traveling. A favorite memory was a visit to Jenny Lake in the Grand Tetons. In the fall around the time of their anniversary, they liked going to PA’s Grand Canyon, where they enjoyed the leaves and time together. Another favorite day trip was to Cape May where they would take their lunch, sit in the sand to eat, and walk the beach.
Born in Royersford to Nathaniel Moyer Gottshall & Mary Susan Ziegler Gottshall, she was the tenth of 11 children and the last surviving child. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Harvey J. Heinly; three children, Janice Heinly Gravely & James, Morganton, NC; Allen Heinly & Diane, Mount Joy, PA; and Gary Heinly & Barbara, Mount Joy, PA; and four grandchildren and their spouses, Jon & Megan Heinly, Jared & Kelly Heinly, Carl & Leah Heinly, and Julie Heinly & Kyle Pegon.
As a family we greatly appreciate all the loving kindness and tender care the staff at Landis Homes gave to Anna during her time in residence. What a remarkable gift from all of you!
A memorial service for Anna Heinly will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at East Bethany Chapel, Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17543 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 1–2 p.m. Interment will be a private service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Landis Homes Caring Fund (address above).
