Anna B. Corlew, 93
Anna B. Corlew, 93, formerly of St. Joseph St., Lancaster, died Monday, October 15, 2012, at Luther Acres in Lititz. Born in Olyphant, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline Sisnetsky Belchick. Her husband of 49 years whom she met at Olmstead Air Force Base during WWII, Floyd T. Corlew, died in 1995.
She graduated from Benton High School in Benton and Hoyt School of Nursing, and also completed some classes at HACC. Anna worked for Lancaster General Hospital for 32 years, first as a licensed practical nurse and then as a kitchen supervisor, retiring in 1988.
A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1954, she was an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary and was active in the mother’s club when her daughter attended school there. Anna was active in the auxiliary of St. Anne’s Retirement Community for many years and she supported the Cloistered Dominican Nuns of the Perpetual Rosary and the Adorers of the Blood of Christ Sisters of St. Joseph Convent and Academy.
Anna cherished gatherings with her family. She was a member and past vice president of the Licensed Practical Nurses Association and had been active in Sweet Adelines International. She enjoyed world travel, playing gin rummy, music and ballroom dancing, especially polka dancing, and watching wrestling and roller derby.
Surviving Anna are her daughter Carolyn G. Postlethwait of Lititz, 3 grandchildren, Catherine Buhrig of Harrisburg, Todd, husband of Laura Postlethwait of Lancaster, and Gary Postlethwait of Satellite Beach, FL; 3 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Hannah and Owen Postlethwait all of Lancaster; her sister Sophie Josephite of Scranton, and many nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by 7 siblings Joseph, Walter, John, Stanley, Michael and Julius Belchick and Blanche Lewis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10 AM Monday, October 22, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas H. Smith as Celebrant. Viewings will be held 6-8 PM Sunday, with the Rosary Service at 7:30 PM, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, and 9:30-10 AM on Monday at the church. Interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, PA. I started working at the hospital in 1965 your mother starting me saving she use to tell me how much she was saving. I worked in the office and remember you performed at our first Christmas party that was a very long time ago.
