Anna K. Kraynick, 94

Anna K. Kraynick, 94, of Brethren Village, passed away at Hospice of Lancaster County on Saturday, September 19, 2009. She was born in Emeigh, PA to the late John M. and Mary (Fonslick) Kraynick.

She was of the Catholic faith and was a long time member or Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Anna spent sixty years in the Medical Records field as a registered Health Information Manager in Windber, Johnstown, and Everett, PA. She was the director of the Medical Record Department for thirty-seven years at the Ephrata Community Hospital, from which she retired in 1980. In addition, she actively worked to develop and maintain these standards as a member of the American Health Information Managers Association, and specifically as a delegate from PA. She held several offices and committee memberships in the PA and Central PA chapters of the Association of Medical Records.

After retirement from Ephrata Community Hospital, she continued as a medical record consultant to several nursing care facilities and hospitals in Lancaster and Berks Counties for several years.

She was a charter member of Soroptimist International of Ephrata for fifty-one years, charter President of their Guy K. Bard Education Fund, and remaining as a member of the Board of Trustees until her resignation in 1995.

Anna enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and her collection of more than 200 pieces of turtle art from around the world.

She is survived by sisters Marilou Kraynick, of Lancaster, and Jean Hawman, of Lancaster, nieces and nephews, Phyllis Badowski, of Olathe, KS, Lois Bailey, Columbia, MD, Patricia Dagostino, Windber, PA, Michael Hawman, Avon, CT, Nancy Hawman, Seattle, WA, Susan Hawman, Washington DC, Kathi Hissong, Concord, NC, David Kraynick, Canton, OH and Joseph Kraynick, of Canton, OH.
