Anne Marie (Rudy) Smith, 42

June 25, 2023

ANNE MARIE SMITH (RUDY), 42, of Catawissa, Columbia County PA was asked to return home to heaven on Sunday, June 25, 2023. She had been under the care of a physician. She was a loving wife to Joseph W. Smith, Jr., whom she celebrated 17 years of marriage in October 2022. Anne was also a devoted, loving and protective mother to Elijah James Rudy, husband of Kiera Hale Rudy. In October 2022 Anne became a grandmother to Sawyer James Rudy, and learned in early 2023 that another grandson was on the way to be born in September 2023.

Born in Lancaster, on August 9, 1980, Anne was a shining light from the start. She was the daughter of Mike and Adabelle Rudy. Growing up in the Catholic faith Anne was an alum of Sacred Heart of Jesus School, and Lancaster Catholic High School Class of 1999. She loved to play basketball for Lancaster Catholic and admired her father and siblings for showing her the love of the game. Anne was also reconnecting with faith in her own way. She very recently enjoyed attending bible studies at LCBC in Bloomsburg where she took part in a women’s group to learn more about the teachings of the bible.

Anne really had a huge heart and she loved Ed Sheeran. She would help anyone and often give as much as she could. She had a special gift in her ability to relate to those in need, especially with the elderly. She loved working at Moravian Manor. She continued in the healthcare field for various parts of her life. She would give what she could. Born and raised in Lancaster County, PA, Anne never ventured far, until electing to move to Catawissa in October 2020 with her family. She also enjoyed being the mother to 7 year old Coco, her dalmatian and her 12 year old Shihtzu, Willow.

In addition to her, parents, husband, son and grandchildren, she is also survived by step-son Nickolaus A. Smith of Halifax PA, sister Julie Miltz, wife of Andrew of Lancaster, and her brother Michael Rudy, husband of Tonja of Lititz; nieces Isabelle and Laykin; and nephew, Lucas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Monday, July 3, 2023 at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Avenue, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received from 10AM until the time of service. Inurnment will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park.
