Asimina Agadis, 79
April 02, 2025
Asimina Agadis, 79, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Chios, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Efthyhia (Menis) Kavouras. She was the beloved wife of Mihalis “Mike” Agadis for over 50 years and a proud mother as well as the cherished Yia Yia.
Asimina immigrated to America as a young woman, where she worked as a seamstress in the garment district of New York City. It was there that she met the love of her life while he was working at her brother’s restaurant. They quickly fell in love, married, and settled in Queens, NY, where they started a family. Eventually, they moved to Dix Hills, Long Island. After raising her beloved boys in New York, Asimina, her husband and sons moved to Lancaster County, where they quickly became valued members of the local community. As a devoted wife and mother, Asimina’s greatest joy was undoubtedly being a Yia Yia. Her love for her family shone brightest when her grandchildren were around. She cherished every moment spent cooking for and with them, showering them with love and endless cookies.
Over the years, Asimina found immense joy in seeing her husband and sons thrive in the restaurant industry. Never one to simply stand by, she was always active—cooking, cleaning, gardening, or doing whatever was necessary. Her warmth and hospitality left a lasting impression on countless guests at the family’s establishments.
Asimina was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and was known for her loyalty and deep love for her family and friends, often showing it through the gifting of her delicious homemade food and baked goods.
She is survived by her husband, Mihalis, her two sons George Agadis (Dina) and Tony Agadis (Halina), her four grandchildren: Michael, Mariana, George Jr., and Asimina, as well as her sister Maria Sirris (Pantelis), and beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Christos and Gianni Kavouras.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5th at 11 AM at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603. A viewing will take place from 9 AM to 11 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
