Barbara A. Flanagan, 62
February 28, 2014
Barbara A. Flanagan, 62, of Lancaster, passed into peaceful rest on February 28, 2014 in the company of her family after a battle with cancer.
Barbara was born to Mary Ann (Wilding) and Richard Maushardt in Pittsburgh, PA. She attended St. Albert Grade School and then Baldwin High School from which she graduated in 1969.
All who knew Barbara will remember her for kindness. Everyone who became acquainted with her immediately felt comfortable in her company and friendships developed with ease.
More than anything else, Barbara loved her family, especially her children and granddaughter. Her life revolved around their hopes and ambitions. When her daughter, Laura, tragically died it left a hole in her heart that was always present. Her faith carried her forward.
Barb loved children. She volunteered at the Church of the Brethren Nursery School, and when evening came her conversations always came back to children, both hers and others she had seen that day.
She is survived by husband, J. Michael Flanagan of Lancaster; sons: M. Casey Flanagan, M.D. of Washington D.C., John L. and Joseph P. Flanagan of Lancaster; and granddaughter, Sutton W. Flanagan of Washington D.C.
Barbara is also survived by her mother, Mary Ann Maushardt; and two sisters: Deborah Jeziorski, wife of Leo, and Carol Maushardt all of Pittsburgh, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Leo Goodman as Celebrant. A viewing will be from 6-9 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 and again on Thursday from 9-10 AM at the church. Interment will be at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Water Street Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 7267, Lancaster, PA 17604.

I recently found out that Barbra died a few years ago. I went to school with Barbra; She was a Heatherette for Baldwin High School. I lived near St. Albert the Great Church at the time. Indeed, she was a quiet caring and loving person. My prayers will continue to abide with family and friends. Thank you God for giving Barb’s life of giving to us.

Barbara was my true best friend in 8th and 9th grade. I remember listening to records and practicing dance moves with her. She truly was a kind, gentle friend. Blessings and prayers for comfort to her family.
