Barbara A. Hobbs, 72
June 20, 2020
Barbara A. Hobbs, 72, of Baltimore, went into the arms of the Lord on June 20, 2020. Born in Staten Island, NY she was the daughter of the late Allen Washington and Elizabeth (Carter) LaRue. She was also the loving wife of the late Robert Lee Hobbs Sr.
Barb will be remembered for her dedication to the church. She was a member of St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia, PA and participated in everything from assisting the senior ladies of the church to being an officer in Pastors Aide. Her faith played a very important role in her life which she passed along to her family. She always wanted to learn and become more involved in her faith.
Those that had the pleasure of knowing Barb knew that she was a “no nonsense” kind of woman. She was not one to sugar coat her opinion and you always knew exactly what she thought. She may have had a tough exterior but she always had a heart of gold. She treasured moments she shared with her family. Anytime they got together, Barb would pull out her camera and take pictures. In her mind, you could not have enough pictures. When she was not in the church or with her family, Barb could be found traveling to some of her favorite spots; Cancun, Hawaii, or New York, and she loved dancing.
Barb will be greatly missed by her children, Robert Hobbs, Jr., husband of Ann Renee, of Baltimore, Yolanda Hobbs, of Baltimore, and MaShona Hobbs, of Easton, PA, her grandchildren; Dianti, LyShwan, Traquai, Roberta, Romique, Daryl, Alana, Jasmine, Ethan, Hayden and Sophia, and her siblings; Howard Washington, husband of Pamela Reeves-Washington, of Mountville and Thomas LaRue, husband of Sheila, of Lancaster, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter as well as a host of family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 12PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St. Lancaster, PA 17602. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10AM-12PM.
