She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Rev. Rudolf J. S. Keyl; by her children, Stephen, Deborah, and Timothy; by six grandchildren; and by her brother, Henry F. Hoffmeier, Jr.
Barbara was born in Passaic, New Jersey, to Henry F. Hoffmeier, Sr., and Marion Hoffmeier. She was baptized on July 15, 1934 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Clifton, NJ. After studies at Paterson State Teachers College (now William Paterson University), she faithfully accompanied her husband to Lutheran congregations in Angola, New York; Vestal, New York; Groton, Connecticut; and Basking Ridge, New Jersey. In retirement Barbara and Rudy made their home in Winchester, Virginia, and later in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Friends will be received by the family at the church from 10-11:00am. Memorial gifts may be made to the Hoffmeier/Keyl Endowment for Church Music, Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 26 W. Dear Uncle Rudy and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have been keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. I know we are all comforted by the promises of God and know that she is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. However, I also know that your hearts are heavy and you miss Aunt Barbara dearly. I pray that you continue to rest on HIs promises knowing that He is close to the brokenhearted and that she now has joy in His presence and eternal pleasures at His right hand.
I love you all dearly and pray the Lord’s blessing and peace to you in this difficult season
Always, Jane Shaffer Schulz

Dear Family,
Aunt Barbara was one of the nicest and strongest people I’ve ever known. She loved God and her family always and foremost. She was gentle yet tough, soft spoken yet convicted. We always enjoyed her visits to WNY! Our prayers are with you all. Love Amy & Sam

My godmother was a caring and non judgemental woman. I remember her soft hugs and smiles. Family dinners, clam bakes, and holidays. I always looked forward to her notes in both holiday and birthday cards. My love to my family Uncle Rudy and all my cousins
