Barbara Anne Kipphorn, 83
April 13, 2019
Barbara “Bobbie” Anne (Wolpert) Kipphorn, 83, of Lancaster, formerly of Bala Cynwyd, PA, entered into heaven Saturday, April 13, 2019. Born in Lancaster she was the daughter of the late Eleanor (Thoms) Wolpert and Bernard “Bernie” Wolpert. She was the loving wife to Richard “Dick” A. Kipphorn, Jr. with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.
Barbara was a 1953 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School. She spent her early adult life in suburban (Mainline) Philadelphia as a homemaker and was subsequently employed by Strawbridge & Clothier, St. Joseph’s University and, upon retiring to her hometown, Lancaster General Hospital, all of which she enjoyed enormously. Barbara especially looked forward to her monthly lunches with the LCHS girlfriends who fondly nicknamed her “Bobbie”. More than anything, Barbara loved entertaining all of her many friends and family at her homes in Bala Cynwyd, PA, Cape May, NJ, Ellenton, FL and back home in Lancaster. She hosted unforgettable get-togethers and meals, including most favored by all, her delicious New Year’s Day pork and sauerkraut.
In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her 3 children, Richard “Kipp” Kipphorn, III (Barbara J.) of West Chester, PA, B. Stefan Kipphorn (Anthony Alessandro) of New York, NY and Jeff T. Kipphorn (Lara) of Mountville, PA; 6 Grandchildren: Rick (Briony), Matthew, Nina, Benjamin, Sophie and Jack Kipphorn; her beloved sister, Dolores “Lori” and Charles “Soz” Ganse of East Petersburg, and nieces and nephews: Lou Anne (Matt) Kruse, Sharon (John) Ellis), Charles “Chuck” (Kathleen) Ganse, Linda (Joe) Krall, Michael (Wendy) LeFever, Stephanie (Steven) Leed, Robert Darlington, Patti (Jeff) Morlock, Kathleen (Drew) Stoken, Shellie Jones, Robert Kipphorn, Bethann (Alan) Kessel, Jennifer (Carlos) Luciano, and Cheryl Swartz.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 558 West Walnut Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Friends and family will be received for one hour prior to the service at 12 Noon. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara’s memory may be offered to PandasInternational.org.

To the Family of “Bobbie,”
Bobbie and I were 2nd cousins throught the Wolpert Family and started our history together in kindergarten. We went all through grade school and high school together, shared many wonderful memories all along the way, and continued in life as good friends for many years until marriage, babies, and distance separated us. Knowing my dear cuz is no longer walking this earth makes me sad. May the God of Peace be a constant comfort to you, Dick, and your whole family. Shalom and love, Maureen
