Barry Andrew Hanchin, 81

March 30, 2025

Barry Andrew Hanchin, 81, peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on March 30th, his faith in Jesus was ever-present in the way he lived and how he treated others. His forever optimism illuminated everyone’s days, finding joy in all things: local farmers markets, summer corn, backyard vistas, and blue skies. Above all, his heart overflowed with happiness when surrounded by his family, particularly his three daughters, whom he could never say no to.

A proud veteran, Barry served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, his dedication evident during his time aboard ships off the coast of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Originally hailing from Belle Vernon, PA, he built a beautiful life with his wife and family, residing in Arizona, Ohio, and most recently, Lancaster, PA, where he spent his final five years. His legacy of a strong work ethic, playful spirit, and perseverance lives on in his daughters. His heart, full of love, laughter, and a ton of dad jokes, left a lasting mark on all who knew him. Though deeply missed, we know that Barry is in heaven, watching over his family, keeping them safe and strong.

He leaves behind his devoted wife and best friend of 56 years, Kathy Maureen Perry Hanchin; his beloved daughters and their spouses, Lori Hanchin Chang (David Chang), Dana Hanchin (Dawn Wiest), and Debbie Triplett (Larry Triplett); and the best grandchildren, Kathryn Chang, Kasey Chang, and AJ Chang, all of whom adored their “Grandpap.” He also leaves his faithful mini-Labradoodle, Sandy. Barry is further survived by his 97-year-old mother-in-law, Catherine Perry; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan Perry Yaszemski (Rick Yaszemski), Erica O’Toole (Drew), and Stephanie Katz (Stephen); and his two great nieces, Stella and Sophia, and one great nephew Eric.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Barry’s memory to: Tunnels to Towers at https://t2t.org/donate/ or
