Barry E. Dissinger, 85

March 07, 2024

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Barry E. Dissinger. He entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 85. Born in Lancaster on Aug. 28, 1938, he was the son of the late Aaron and Elizabeth Dissinger. He shared over 60 years of love and memories with Bonnie Dissinger.

A longtime member of Worship Center, he was active in many programs throughout the church including singing with One A Chord, and Prime Time Live.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, trout, and charter fishing, and was a train and airplane enthusiast. He was quite involved with youth sports programs of ice hockey, and midget football. Many will remember Barry for his pride and joy, his canary yellow Corvette.

He will be missed by his loving wife Bonnie, children Robin Inslee of Lancaster, LeAnn, wife of Jeff Binkley of FL, Ryan Dissinger, husband of Michele of Lititz, and Jody, wife of Todd Fatta of Lancaster, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his sister, Esther Cammauf.

A Funeral Service honoring Barry’s spirit will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601, beginning at 11 AM. The family invite guests to a viewing at the church from 10 AM until the time of service.

Condolences to the Family

March 21, 2024

On behalf of all my family, I wanted to write a few words to the Dissinger family.  We send our condolences and love to you all.  Your Dad was a terrific man, a good man, and connected to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I loved hearing stories about Wil and Barry as kids and teens.  Loved visiting your home and riding bikes or running around the neighborhood!  I’m so glad Barry is in a place now where he can run and not grow faint or weary, as the Word says in Isaiah 40:31.  I pray for strength and forebearance at this difficult time and that you will all be reunited in Heaven.

On behalf of my Parents (in Heaven), my brothers and husband, I would like to send condolences to Bonnie and the whole Dissinger Family.  You see, we have known this beautiful family all our lives.  Barry and my Dad, Wil, were buddies and were in each others weddings.  We would have wonderful get togethers where the adults would chat and the kids would play together.  I believe we all will always cherish those special times.  Barry will be missed by us and so many.  He always had something lovely (and sometimes sarcastic that made us smile!) to say to us kids and when we lost Dad so early in life, he said “we would make our Dad proud” as we navigated how to sell their house so we could get Mom down to NC to be with us.  Barry and Bonnie helped my Mother in those tough times without Dad and I will never forget their friendship and care.  They were friends through the good times and the bad times.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  We love you all.

Our condolences to the family. Many memories of hockey both playing and coaching with Barry. Our drives to Hershey and York and then trying to work at Ressler the rest of the week. Hockey bus trips to Kitchener and our Lancaster youth hockey team.  Blessings to the entire family.

Robin and family, I was so sorry to see that your dad passed away.  I had the chance to know him a bit when I sang with One A-Chord Community Choir.   He was a kind and friendly “doorman” for our practices…he greeted us with a smile and cheery hello!  Frank and I will be keeping your family in our prayers.

Dear Neighbor and Friend Bonnie, What a helpful, pleasant, fun loving, man Barry was! I will remember his smile and his readiness to help others.   And he advised me many times as to how I shoud accomplish certain tasks, mainly yard work.   He enjoyed playing ball from the lawn chair in my back yard with the neighbor boy.   He would converse with the neighbor girls.  He could  relate to children and adults.  He was very social.   And he loved his cats. Many years ago, he had a dog as a companion and he loved that dog!   He also  enjoyed watching the birds from his house windows. He enjoyed animals and nature.  Oh, what a great neighbor and friend, he was, the best! My deepest sympathy to Bonnie and family! He will be greatly missed and remembered!

Barry was my favorite customer at Landisville Post Office. We enjoyed giving each other a hard time but always in fun. I’ve missed seeing him regularly and always appreciate when Bonnie would bring him by. Sending his family lots of love and warm memories.

My fond memories were hunting with Barry. Joking and laughing filled each day. I know we will laugh again in Paradise.

I am so sorry to read about Barry’s passing.  I remember his smile and friendly personality from my days living down the street.  Your family is in my thoughts at this difficult time.  I pray that your many happy memories help to dull some of the ache as your hearts heal from the hole his passing has left in your hearts.

I am truly sorry to learn of Barry’s home going. I sang in One a Chord with Barry who was the self appointed door opener for rehearsals and concerts. He always had a smile and kind word. He’s been missed by the choir, and now is singing bass in the Heavenly choir. Please accept my condolences. Karen Fellenbaum
