Barry T. Gerz, Jr., 69

November 08, 2023

Co-owner of Gerz Radiator, sportsman, and friend to many, Barry T. Gerz, Jr., 69, of Lancaster, passed away November 8, 2023, doing what he loved most, working on cars. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Barry T. Sr., and Gloria Gerz. He shared over 47 years with his beloved wife Anna (Mull) Gerz.

Barry wanted nothing more than to create and share memories with others, especially his family. He found peace in the great outdoors hunting, fishing, or visiting the family’s hunting cabin in Fulton County.

Tinkering around the garage was a pastime of Barry’s, which he passed on to his sons. He was proud of the men they became, and treasured working with them in the family business. A long-time car enthusiast, he was always found fixing or fidgeting with a motor. He enjoyed restoring vintage cars and motorcycles and drag racing. He was also fond of playing pool at Riverside Camping Association or catching up with friends at the Elks Lodge or Rainmakers Association Lodge.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him especially his parents; wife Anna; his sons, Barry T. Gerz, III, husband of Jen, Lititz, Ryan Gerz, husband of Charlene, Landisville, and Jeremy Gerz, husband of Kate, Lancaster; those who affectionately referred to him as “PaPa” or “Grampy” grandchildren, Bailey, Michael, Shannon, Annalise, Madison, and Noah; great grandchildren, Hadley and Adalyn, and siblings, Nancy Clemens, David Gerz, Daniel Gerz, and Frances Plank. He was preceded in passing by his sister, Debra Smyth.

Guests are invited to a visitation on Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 5 – 7 PM, at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584 and on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 10 – 11 AM at the funeral home, with a funeral service at 11 AM. Interment to follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery in Bausman. Please omit flowers and consider a memorial contribution in Barry’s name to the Wounded Warriors Project, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

To Barry’s family, so sorry for your loss.  Barry was a fellow classmate of mine and a cousin of my neighbor, Ellen.  He surely will be missed.  He tried to help me sell my late husband’s old car when he passed, thanks Barry RIP.  To his family, his memories will comfort you for life until you reunite with him again.

I am truly sorry for the Gerz Family & Friends on the loss of Barry. I have taken all vehicles I have ever owned to Gerz Radiator. Barry was always asking how I was doing and asked how the family was doing as everyone went to Gerz Radiator for their vehicles. He was a great man and will be missed by many.
