Benjamin “Ben” S. Martin, 86

February 20, 2025

Benjamin “Ben” S. Martin, 86, of Lititz, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Born in New Holland, PA, he was the beloved son of the late Edna (Sauder) and Titus Martin.

A man of deep faith, Ben was a devoted member of Lancaster Brethren in Christ Church. His kind and generous spirit touched the lives of many, and his legacy of warmth and compassion will be remembered.

Ben found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved visiting golf courses and cherished the proud moment of achieving a hole-in-one at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and enjoyed watching golf. Whether tending to his yard, reading a good book, or putzing around the house, he found fulfillment in the everyday moments. His love for driving and taking road trips reflected his spirit and appreciation for life’s journey.

Ben dedicated his professional career to Wenger Feeds, where he worked tirelessly and built strong relationships with his customers before retiring at the age of 70. He was known for his unwavering work ethic and the genuine care he extended to those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Nolt) Steffy; his children, Deb Nemith (Steve) of Ephrata and Cathy Mohler (Scott); He was a proud grandfather to Derek Mohler (Amy), Tonya Glick (Gavin), and Ryan Nemith (Lauren). His legacy continues through his cherished great-grandchildren: Landon, Adeline, Tegan, Ashton, Brendon, Cameron, and Olivia. Ben is also survived by his dear sisters, Phebe Good and Esther Lefever. Ben is also survived by Mary’s family: Eric Steffy (Becky Miller-Steffy) of Telford, PA, grandchildren: Daniel, Lauren, Natalie, and Sarah Steffy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Winters) Martin, with whom he shared over 42 wonderful years of marriage, as well as his siblings: Betty, Mary Alice, Rhoda, Mark, Isaac, and Naomi.

Dear Mary,
I am so very sorry to read of Ben’s passing, I remember meeting him years ago when you were just dating. I remember he was such a kind, caring man, and that matched who I’d always known you to be. You seemed so happy together. I am keeping you and yours extra close in thought and prayer as you grieve the loss of your husband. Sending love and a good long hug.

Our condolences to you Mary. The first time we meet Ben. He was cutting his grass on a PENN STATE mower. I new then we had a great neighbor! Speaking about mowing. One  day we were both mowing our lawns. We stopped to chitchat for a moment. Then he proceeds to tell me he’s getting married in a hour. Wow Mary what a great guy you married!
