Benjamin F. Bondzinski, 92

April 02, 2025

Benjamin F. Bondzinski, a husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 2, 2025, at the age of 92. Born in Larksville, Pennsylvania, he was the cherished son of the late Benjamin and Helen (Shuleski) Bondzinski.

He proudly served his country in the Army for two years, where he exemplified courage and commitment. His time in the military not only shaped his character but also instilled in him a profound respect for the values of honor and sacrifice.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Mary (Savitski) Bondzinski, with whom he shared an incredible 67 years of marriage.

In 1967, Ben and Mary made their home in Lancaster, where he dedicated many years of his life to serving as a property tax assessor for Lancaster County. His professional life was marked by integrity and a commitment to his community, but it was his personal life that truly defined him.

After retiring, Ben embraced new adventures, enjoying golfing and vacationing in Florida. He and Mary traveled extensively, exploring the beauty of Canada, Europe, Hawaii, Aruba, and many other destinations across the United States.

Ben’s world revolved around his family and home, where he took great joy in undertaking various home improvement projects. A passionate fisherman, he found solace and happiness by the water, often reflecting on life’s simple pleasures. An avid sports fan, Ben proudly cheered for Philadelphia sports teams and Penn State football, always ready to celebrate their victories. However, nothing brought him more joy than his five grandchildren-Julian, Tristan, Aiden, Austin, and Jacqueline. All five grandchildren played sports and he never missed a game. Ben was their biggest supporter. Always encouraging them to pursue their passions.

Ben is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his two children, Karen Barilar and her husband Bruce Barilar and Laure Kurych and her husband Steven Kurych; and his five adoring grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering support that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 11 AM to 12 PM on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, located at 2427 Marietta Ave, Lancaster, PA 17601. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 PM, with burial to take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Ben will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace.

Dear Aunt Mary, Karen, Laure, and families,
Theresa and I were very saddened to read about Uncle Ben’s passing.
I will always fondly remember the fun times we had. Including when your family came to visit our family in NJ.  The memories of me, my Dad and Uncle Ben going Crabbing on the boat. The times that our families spent going on the beach. I also remember the fun week I spent visiting with him and your family in PA.
Theresa and I also remember enjoying our warm and welcoming. visits to your home.
May he rest in Peace.

Aunt Mary, Karen and Laurie We  are deeply saddened by the news of Uncle Ben.  He will be remembered by his kindness, quick wit and his practical ways.  I remember the friendship he had with my dad and uncle Jack, and how they used to joke around. Uncle Ben was always great with construction projects, I remember when he helped my dad and uncle Jack building their pools. He was such a nice person, he will be missed.
Love,
Matt and Jackie Nareski
