Bernice G. Shaeffer, 85
March 24 1935 - April 14, 2020
Bernice (Groff) Shaeffer, 85, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at Hamilton Arms Center in Lancaster. Prior to moving to Hamilton Arms she resided with her daughter, Gynith Shaeffer in New Providence. She was the daughter of the late Francis Groff and Susan (Steffy) Groff, and was born in Vintage, PA.
Bernice raised her family in Lampeter and retired from Exide Corporation in Lampeter after many years of service. Bernice loved to watch UFC and Cops on TV. She also found great pleasure spending time with her “grandcats”.
She is survived by her children, J. Donald Shaeffer, Jr., of Millersville, PA, Gynith Shaeffer of New Providence, PA and David Shaeffer of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Abigail Shaeffer. The youngest of 7 children, she was predeceased by all of her siblings, Beatrice (Groff) Adams, Helen (Groff) Stanley, Arlene (Groff) Rice, Susan (Groff) McClure, John Groff and George Groff.
A graveside service will be planned at a later date.

So sorry, Gynith. No one can come close to taking the place of your mother. She was so pretty! I never met her but she has a very sweet face. Time will help you deal better with the loss but you will always miss her. But talk to her. I feel like my mom is always with me. Much love to you and your family. Jan
