Brenda L. Witmer, 83

August 15, 2024

Brenda L. Witmer, 83, of Brethren Village, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Verna M. (Deitrich) Harrison. Brenda was the loving wife of Raymond L. Witmer, who died in 2016.

Brenda was a 1959 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. She worked for 28 years as a proofreader for Hanford Publishing.

A lifelong member of Ascension Lutheran Church, she was a devoted Christian. Brenda loved her family more than anything else in this world and loved decorating her home for the holidays. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and into Canada. Her grandchildren were most important to Brenda, and she loved attending their dance recitals and concerts.

Brenda is survived by her children: Mark R. Witmer, husband of Barbara, of Pennington, NJ, and Karen L. Hartman, of Kutztown; 4 grandchildren: Joshua, Kristin, Emily, and Hannah; a great-grandchild who will be born in November; a sister, Cynthia Rossos, wife of Nickolas; brothers-in-law: David Witmer, companion of Donna Burkholder, Daniel Witmer, husband of Barbara, and James Witmer, husband of Sally; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received from 10AM to 11AM, Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 600 E. Penn Grant Rd., Willow Street, PA 17584. Funeral Services will follow at 11AM. Interment will take place at Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Brenda’s memory may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, PO Box 635, Willow Street, PA 17584.
