Catherine E. Meeker, 94

Catherine E. Meeker, 94, of Lancaster, PA and formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away at the UPMC Pinnacle Hospital in Lancaster on Friday, September 28, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in Martins Ferry to the late George and Edith (Willimott) Haag. Her husband of 38 years, David W. Meeker, died in 1989.

She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in, Wheeling, WV and West Liberty University, Wheeling, WV. Catherine received her teacher’s certification and taught 2nd grade at the Elm School in Martins Ferry.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a passionate Pittsburgh Penguins fan. She also loved the Steelers and enjoyed reading, completing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and travelling.

Surviving Catherine are her daughter, Connie E. Meeker of Lancaster, with whom she lived and her son Doug W. Meeker, husband of Sue (Young) of Charlotte Hall, MD; two grandchildren, Jennifer, wife of Andrew Anderson of Tempe, AZ and David Meeker of McLean, VA; and her sister Lois Moellendick. In addition to her husband David, Catherine was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Klotz and Eileen Snyder.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cathedral in Wheeling, WV on November 9, 2018 at 9:00 am. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, One Chatham Center, Suite 480, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
