Charles B. “Force” Porter, 74, of North Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Chadbourn, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Alfred Ogborn and Mary Beathea Porter. Charles was the loving husband of Janet R. Evans Porter and they observed their 22nd wedding anniversary this past January.
Charles had a passion for cooking and was a “foodie” who loved traveling anywhere, anytime to enjoy the savory, sweet and zest for both food and life. He was an avid bowler, who enjoyed listening to all genres of music. The Dallas Cowboys are who you could find him rooting for on football Sunday’s as well as the watching the L.A. Lakers, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and David Muir. He also loved a good game of scrabble.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Janet, are 15 children, Gwendolyn Daniels, Quentin Porter, Regina Bellamy, Katrina Chestnut, Jamela Fatima Jones, Alan Godfrey, Keisha Wammamaker, Anita Porter, Alicia Porter, Charles Porter Jr., Brian Coleman, Avita Knighten, Allison Porter, Cory Porter, Danya Porter, 21 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, as well as two siblings. Preceding him in death are two grandchildren.
