Charles C. Cook, 87

Charles C. Cook (Charlie), 87, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was the beloved Patriarch, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-grandfather of his family. Charlie was born and raised in New Jersey but lived in Lancaster for the past 50 years. He was the husband of Louella (O’Kane) Cook with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Pam (Kevin) Bervinchak and Todd Cook, 10 grandchildren: Jocelyn, Ryan, Jordan, Krista, Karly, Paige, Cyrus, Claudia, Sean and Gabby, and 10 great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by son, Philip Cook.
Charlie was a graduate of The Stony Brook School in New York and the Newark College of Engineering with a degree in civil engineering. During his career he worked in the construction industry with a focus on the design and construction of industrial metal buildings. In 1980, he started his own business, Lancaster Metal Sales, which he owned and operated until his retirement.
During his lifetime, Charlie was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, earning the award of Eagle Scout. He also enjoyed many activities and sports over the years and was a fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He was an avid runner and participated in numerous triathlons and long distance races.
Charlie was exceptionally proud of his service in the United State Marine Corp. He served from 1955-1958 and earned the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp. He was a lifetime member of the Lancaster Marine Corp League.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers, and kindly consider a donation to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all of the caregivers who provided comfort to our father over the years, including neighbors, home aids, the Hospice team, and the nurses and staff at Brethren Village. Your care and kindness brought solace in a time of need.

Lou, I am so sad at Charlie’s passing. Charlie remains a role-model for everyone who knew him. The mutual love and devotion you shared was obvious for all to witness. You remain in my prayers. I am so sorry.
