Cheryl J. “Cheri” Smuck, 78
April 29, 2024
Cheryl J. “Cheri” Smuck, 78, of Manheim, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Hospice & Community Care of Mt. Joy.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Dorothy M. (Smith) Stauffer. She was the loving wife of Charles “Charlie” Smuck for 59 years.
Cheri dedicated 32 years of her life to the Internal Medicine Association of Ephrata, leaving a lasting impact on all those she worked with and cared for. As a respected member and sacristan at St. James Catholic Church, Cheri volunteered for many church events, especially the annual Bazaar. By being a member of the knitting group, making perogies and volunteering countless other hours, she contributed to the success of the event every year. She also supported the Fulton Theater by volunteering as a host. She found joy in supporting others and offering comfort to those around her in need.
In her leisure time, Cheri loved playing Chinese Mahjong, knitting, solving puzzles, reading, water aerobics and participating in social events.
Most precious to Cheri’s heart was her family. She is survived by her husband, Charlie; her daughters, Tami (Christopher) Schiavone and Lori Eddy; her sister, Lois Williams; her grandchildren, Elie, Bridgette, Brittany, Jason, Drew, Eric and Stephanie; and four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Audrey Hirko.
Friends and family will be received from 10AM to 11AM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave., Lititz, PA 17543. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11AM, followed by refreshments. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cheri’s name to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601 or through the following link: https://www.hospiceandcommunitycare.org/.

Sorry to hear about Cheri, what good times we had in Brookshire. Playing Bunco! And her and her sister at bingo. My prayers are with you Charlie and your family. Reading her obituary I found out she was Audrey’s sister which I didn’t know. I knew Bob Hirko from school, so I knew his mom Audrey when I went to his house. Small world.
So sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear about Cheri’s passing. I got to know her and Charlie as neighbors living in Brookshire. I remember playing Bunco with her and she came to movie night quite often. We would chat at the mailboxes and I always remember her Halloween “witch” that she would sit on her bench out front of the front door. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this most difficult time.

To the Smuck family, I was so sorry to read about your loss. I have great memories baby sitting at your house way back when in Eden Manor. I always enjoyed being around Mrs Smuck ( always Mrs Smuck to me). Gosh now I see she wasn’t that much older than I was at the time. I pray for you all as you navigate these coming days & months. My heart breaks for you all.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Cheri for almost all of her career at IMA. She was a hard worker and a beautiful human being, inside and out. We had good conversations and lots of fun in the office….and particularly at our office parties when our hubby’s were included. Great memories…
