Daniel E. Delgiorno, 81

February 15, 2024

Daniel Emilio Delgiorno joined our heavenly Father on February 15, 2024. Dan was born on March 14, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA to Daniel R. and Angelina Bisanti Delgiorno who both have preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother Stella Delgiorno, his brother Raymond and his sister Diane.

Dan had many careers in his life all of which included working with people. He started out as a dishwasher which led to his first job as a bus boy. He eventually became a waiter and bartender which he did for many years part-time. His next adventure as a young man was in a research lab at Jefferson Medical College. After attending some college Dan worked in a polymer lab and then started his sales career selling steel and then eventually bar and restaurant supplies to local restaurants. He ended his sales career working at Lancaster Country Club as a waiter. After his retirement, Dan joined his wife in running her business, Delgiorno’s Italian Specialties, located at Lancaster Central Market. After retiring from that, he worked at Weis Markets part-time in the Deli department and other positions.

Dan leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Sara (Sally) Fly Delgiorno. He was the father of two loving children: D. Richard (Rick) Delgiorno, husband of Michele, and Susan Delgiorno-Ream, wife of Jeffrey. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren Collin (Fiancé Stephanie) Gratz, Nico (Wife Michaela) Delgiorno, Anthony Delgiorno (Significant other Alissa), and Madalyn Mendez. In addition to the above he is survived by three great-grandchildren Hudson Gratz, Nolan Gratz, and Avianna Delgiorno.

Condolences to the Family

March 03, 2024

I am very saddened to hear about Dan. But also very pleased that I got to know him a bit the past couple years. He always talked so proudly of his past and I truly believe he was great at all of the things he has done. I respect him so much for having an old photo of him and Sally that he kept in his wallet. I’ll miss those Sunday nights when we shared a pizza at work. I won’t forget ‘Dan the man’.

I always enjoyed stopping and talking to your Dad at market.   He could not have been more proud of his family.   He was just an all around good man.    Tim,Jody and Luke Witek
