Daniel Patrick Keating, 49
April 01, 2025
Daniel Patrick Keating, 49, of Millersville, Pennsylvania died on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. He was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, son of Edward Joseph Keating and the late Annmarie McKeon Keating. He is survived by his father; brothers William (Sharon) of Dawsonville, Georgia, Michael of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, Father Ted of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, Mark (Alison) of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Peter (Eileen) of Columbia, Maryland; sister Annmarie Hyrb (Christopher) of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and infant brother, Thomas.
Dan graduated from Lancaster Catholic High school in 1994 and received a Bachelor of Science in finance from Duquesne University in 1999, where he was also an active member of the Alpha Phi Delta fraternity. He worked in the financial sector for several years but found his passion in the hospitality industry. Dan loved people and had a real gift for creating welcoming environments that drew people in. He was a connoisseur of movies and films- all genres, but war stories topped the list. He was an avid reader, and his remarkable memory enabled him to recall the most intriguing trivia from stories and films, always at the perfect moment.
Dan loved his family. He prioritized being present for holiday gatherings and summer trips to the shore. He loved to connect with his family on long (long!) phone calls and like a true Irishman, was a captivating storyteller. When he spun a tale, he owned the room. He was a faithful Catholic and regularly attended his brother’s masses at Mary Mother of the Church Parish in Mount Joy.
A private Mass of Christian Burial for immediate family was held at Mary Mother of the Church parish on April 5, 2025. Dan will be deeply missed by all those who loved him. To honor Dan’s memory, please pick up the phone and call an old friend you have not spoken with in a while, or reach out to someone you have been thinking of recently and reconnect.

To the entire Keating family,
I learned of Danny’s passing and am so saddened. I have very fond memories of growing up with him at St. Leo’s and LCHS. I remember playing in the neighborhood, at the legendary Keating house, or on the soccer team with Dan. At your house, if we weren’t outside, we might have found ourselves playing on the computer in the basement or with GI Joes. We used to have so much fun together. One time, we were throwing a nerf football back and forth across the street at my house and made up a scoring system between the telephone wires. Maybe I shouldn’t say this, but the game eventually grew old so we gradually got closer and closer to the cars…until one car stopped and we ran. Disclaimer: we never hit a car. But in school the next day, the gym teacher pulled us aside and asked us if we liked throwing the nerf football…needless to say we didn’t do that again. Anyway, I’d been thinking about Danny recently. I send my prayers and best wishes to you all.
God Bless,
James, Stacey, Katie, and Ryan Haefner
