David D. Bowman, 69
David D. Bowman, 69, of East Petersburg, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 19, 2011 in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late David K. and Josephine (Bair) Bowman Detwiler. David was the husband of Joanne K. Bowman whom he married on July 2, 1966.
David was a 1960 graduate of Hempfield High School. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force with the strategic air command as a MP (military policeman) during which he was stationed at the Travis Air Force base in California.
Before his retirement, David worked at the Landisville and Mount Joy plants for AMP, Inc. as a tool and dye maker.
David was a former Cub Scout leader and also served as an assistant Scout Master for East Petersburg Troop #33. During his time in the Boy Scouts, David took each of his three sons to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #85 in Mount Joy.
David was an avid bicyclist and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by two sons: D. Mark Bowman of Abudhabi, UAE, J. Michael Bowman, husband of Alyson of London, Ontario, Canada; one daughter: Beth E., wife of Pierre Montagano of Jenkintown; two grandchildren: Ella & Sebastian Montagano; one daughter-in-law: Sarah Murphy Bowman of Baltimore, MD; two brothers: Ray Bowman of New Providence, Phil Schoenberger of Mount Joy. He was preceded in death by a son, J. Phillip Bowman and a brother, Ralph Bowman.
Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home& Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA.
