David E. Kuntz, 52
David E. Kuntz, 52, of Lancaster, PA passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 28, 2008. He was born in Lancaster on July 26, 1956 to Lucy (Rizzo) Kuntz and the late Jere E. Kuntz.
David attended Sacred Heart Catholic School where he served as an altar boy and was also a member. He attended Lancaster Catholic High School and took college level classes at Franklin & Marshall College during high school. He achieved a Bachelor’s degree from Humbolt State University, CA. He then obtained a Masters degree in Range Management from Oregon State University.
David had an extensive education and career. David traveled to Kenya where he was a professor of Range Management for two years. When he returned to the states he obtained his Doctorate degree in Range Management at University of Idaho. After schooling in Idaho he returned to California to Fort Irwin Military Base where he was implemental in managing environmental impact studies. He then was an operations manager at Southwestern Research Station in Arizona, which is owned and operated by American Museum of Natural History in NYC.
David had a great love of dogs, the outdoors, hiking, and horseback riding. He was a member of the National Range Management Society of the American Honors Society.
David recently returned home to Lancaster to help care for his loving mother Lucy.
Surviving besides his mother is a brother Thomas J. Kuntz husband of Lorie of Redlands, CA, niece and nephew Stephanie and Steven Kuntz of Redlands, CA and nieces Hillary and Allison Kuntz of Lititz, cousins Kathy Kirchoff, Audrey Lance, Donna Bowman, Ann Marie Heiland, Steve Rizzo, and Roberto Rizzo and long time friend Steve Ruof of Pequea and sister-in-law Kathy Kuntz of Lititz. He is preceded in death by a brother Michael W. Kuntz.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend David’s Mass of Christian Burial from Sacred Heart Catholic Church 558 W. Walnut St, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Saturday, January 3rd, 2009 at 11am with Michael J. Grab as Celebrant. There will be a viewing at the church from 10-11am. Final farewell and commendation will take place at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in David’s memory may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church at the above address. Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of David. He was a kind, and caring person. Lucy, I know it must be very difficult for you to lose a son like David. As a neighbor please let me know if there is anything I can do.
