David J. Slater, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away on March 5, 2024. Born on September 1, 1945, in Reading, PA, David was a devoted family man, known for his unwavering love and support for his loved ones.
He was an esteemed Controller CFO at Quaker Plastics and proudly held a Bachelor’s Degree from Drexel University.
David’s love for science fiction and fantasy novels and films was well-known, as he ardently followed the adventures of iconic series such as Star Wars and Game of Thrones. His passion for history, comics, and Dungeons and Dragons added a unique flair to his personality, reflecting his vibrant spirit and diverse interests.
Throughout his life, David remained the guiding light for his family, always prioritizing their well-being and happiness above all else.
He is survived by his devoted daughters Theresa Slater Weizenecker wife of Richard and Tracie Brady wife of Ken, and his loving son, John Slater husband of Nicole. He is also remembered by his grandchildren Wesley M. Treible, Ryan Weizenecker husband of Stephanie, Kayla Treible wife of Nico, Nathan Sturges, Mariah Sturges, Benjamin Slater, Briana Emerick, and Brittney Hawley, and his great grandchildren Hailey Anne, Ryan, Ava Luna, and Amari.
Along with his parents, David is preceded in passing by his wife Karen, sister Jana F. Slater-Rice and granddaughter Brianna Slater.
To honor and celebrate the life of David J. Slater, a public visitation will be held at West Willow United Methodist Church on March 9, 2024, at 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s honor to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at cff.org In these moments of grief, may we find solace in the memories we shared with David and the profound impact he had on each of our lives.
